Should You Buy The Sony Ericsson K800i?

The Sony Ericsson K800i Mobile Phone is one of the best camera phones that you can buy at the moment! It has a built in 3.2MP cybershot digital camera, and is compatible with 3G networks.

The K800i is the first phone from Sony Ericsson’s Cybershot range that features 3G, and is almost certainly the best camera phone that you could hope to get your hands on!

The phone is quite large and some people may say that it’s like a brick. However nobody can deny that it’s built to last. The design itself is nothing new, however it’s constructed very well, and has some very nice touches. The back of the phone doesn’t look like a phone! It looks a lot more like a camera than a phone from the back.

There’s even a lens cover for the camera, just opening this lens cover will automatically start the camera application and allow you to start taking photos. Sometimes this does come open by itself, which is a little annoying. The phone isn’t the lightest available; it weighs in at 115g, however for a 3G phone that’s not actually too bad. It’s also beneficial at reducing camera shake.

The K800i has a real Xenon flash that is very bright; most camera phones either don’t have a flash or use an LED flash that is much weaker. The K800i has a real flash because it’s a real digital camera, you can use this to take photos everyday.

The K800i also has a great little feature known as BestPic. This will take nine shots of the same thing, which lets you choose the best one. This is a great way for avoiding people that always seem to blink when you take a photo! You can print directly to PictBridge printers using the Bluetooth connection.

You can also record videos using the built in camera; the video quality is a little disappointing after admiring the picture quality so much! There is video editing software for the phone included, which is pretty nifty. There is also another camera that is used for video calling.

The MP3 player function of this K800i phone is exceptional, it’s also very easy to use and can support play lists, just like a real MP3 player! It also has a built in FM radio. Using the built in speakers for audio playback is ok, but it’s nowhere near as good as the W900i. You can also listen using a stereo headset, either wired or Bluetooth.

The K800i is expandable by using Memory Stick Micro Cards (M2); this means that you can easily stick a 1GB card inside. The battery life is very good when compared to other 3G phones.

The K800i has a much better camera than the W900i and is much more compact, however it doesn’t have as good a music player.
